Work can now commence on the hotel build



Plans to build a new 150-room hotel at Coventry's Ricoh Arena have taken a huge step forward with plans given the green light.

Earlier this year, plans to build the new hotel on the site of the stadium's Car Park C were submitted to Coventry City Council.

And yesterday (October 16), those plans were approved by planning officers, giving the £15 million project the go-ahead.

It means that work to build the Hampton by Hilton hotel on the land can now start.

The hotel plans have been in the pipeline for quite some time, and though completion in time for Coventry's year as City of Culture appears all but impossible, it will add much-needed extra hotel capacity in the city.

In March, artist impressions of the hotel were shown for the first time, showing Hampton by Hilton to be the operator.
