More than £1,000 was stolen from the victim
A 92-year-old woman has been attacked by burglars in Coventry who tried snatching an engagement ring from her finger.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident, which took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 14, at around 2.45pm.
Three men used a crowbar to force entry into their victim's home on Hockett Street in the Cheylesmore area of the city.
They assaulted the woman in an attempt to remove a diamond ring from her finger that was given to her by her late husband.
Though they were unsuccessful, they were able to leave with more than £1,000 in cash.
According to West Midlands Police, she had been saving the money to purchase a new three-piece suite.
The incident happened just minutes after her daughter left, leading detectives to suggest the thieves may have been watching her home.
Police have described the men as white, in their 30s, and around 5ft 10in.
