"Meeting others in pubs to be illegal in North East"

Lockdown restrictions in north-east England are to be tightened in a bid to halt the rise in Covid-19 cases

The tougher measures will affect about two million people and were announced by Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

He said mixing between households in any indoor setting, such as pubs and restaurants, will be against the law from Wednesday.

Households in the region had already been advised to avoid mixing but the new ban will be enforced with fines.

Mr Hancock told the House of Commons that cases in the region have "risen sharply" and the rate of infections is now more than 100 cases per 100,000.

Under the regulations that came into force on 18 September, people in Newcastle, Northumberland, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland and County Durham were banned from socialising with other people outside of their own households or support bubbles in private homes and gardens.

They were also advised not to socialise with people outside of their household in any public venue, but that was only guidance and not banned under law.

Pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues also remain limited to table service only and have a 22:00 curfew.

Mr Hancock did not say whether visits to other households for informal childcare - such as grandparents looking after children - will still be permitted under the revised rules.

I wonder how this is going to work? I often talk to strangers in pubs. I'm not within 6 feet of them...

I really think it's time for these muppets to stand down and let someone who understands science take charge.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

If some one sneezes it will travel for 25ft so where do they get one metre from . I personally think the one metre then shortened to half a metre or a bit more along with lock down at the time also isolating over 70s is more like testing on tracking us . Did nt they say when we leave the EU they said the UK wont be able to us the tracking system Galileo satellite.

If the bbc website 3rd link down is true it will be going for years.
New legistration from October 1st taking a test for Covid 19 your finger prints and dna will so be taken on the test.

That'll stop people going for random tests!

Seriously, if that is the case it'll take a court order to get me near a test station.

Thank you, Melisandre. I'd missed that altogether. That is a very worrying development. Creating a national DNA database via the backdoor! :fuming:

I am not sure if its because of this. Their is talk of having a CANUK deal which is like we had with the EU not sure if you have heard of this some are saying its started already. On public comments even the American people want in. Reminds me of wwii

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZSuuXB2a/

I ve read they will up the testing before this year is out by millions here.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CANZUK_International

On leaked documents just been exposed on Operation Moonspot on link the above thread to this it states with out us having a Covid test or have an electronic passport you might not be able to leave your home or go abroard or go to a concert or even work..
