An eagle-eyed resident even chalked in a correction

It always helps to dot the i’s and cross the t’s when it comes to following road directions.

But bungling council contractors failed in both senses when painting new markings to one of Coventry’s most famous landmarks.

Fresh markings appeared to provide drivers with directions to Coventry Cathedral as they head off the junction 5 exit.

However the famous city landmark was spelt ‘CAIHEDRAL’ by council contractors, with the ‘T’ not crossed.

One Coventry resident even chalked in the correct spelling underneath.

The authority was informed of the error last week, but said it has now been corrected.

A council spokesman said: “The spelling has been rectified and we’d like thank the eagle-eyed member of the public that pointed out to us that our contractor had failed to cross the T.

“When highway works are taking place we take the opportunity to review, and where appropriate, amend the road markings to ensure they are as clear and helpful for as possible drivers.”

Jesus wept! What are we employing?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
