Coronavirus: Bedworth Police officers investigated for 'barbecue breach'

The actions of police officers who allegedly breached social distancing rules by attending a barbecue is "disappointing", a police boss said



Five Warwickshire officers who tested positive for coronavirus are the subject of an internal investigation over the allegations.

The Daily Mail reported the officers went to a bank holiday barbecue, when full lockdown was in place.

A police spokesman said the source of the infections was unknown.

Six officers have since tested positive, but not all of them are subject to the internal misconduct investigation, the force said.

Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe said: "I think this behaviour is below the standards we expect... this is the wrong message."

He added: "I've been really pleased with the way that the force have acted and joined with the community in stopping the virus spread, so this incident is not helpful and it's really disappointing and we need to understand why it happened."

"Extensive work" was carried out to trace any close contact the officers had with colleagues and members of the public.

Bedworth station - where the officers are based - has been deep-cleaned, police said.

None of the officers who tested positive required hospital treatment, and they were self-isolating at home.

Reports suggest officers attended a barbecue on 25 May, when full lockdown was in place.

Disappointing? I call it scandalous. If proven to be correct they should all lose their jobs and pensions. The police are not above the laws that they have been enforcing on the rest of us.

Coronavirus or Covid 19 as coronvirus is the common cold. Police are carring out government orders.

I ve yet to see top officials wearing masks or police soilders out in public out on the streets . Nor have I heard any miltary RAF Army Navy going down with this so called virus. Strange that.


You could go shopping amongst hundreds of people 6ft apart you could exercise keeping 6ft apart yet our mps could meet their girl friends travel long distances and visit a castle and drive far distances with poòr eye sight which illegal to drive with poor eye sight yet these were they very people who made these rules and laws. Strange dont you think the government want people with poor eye sight to stop driving then Boris complains after him having so called Covid 19 he now has poor eye sight along with Dominic Commings.

Then what did they bring in only pay by card no cash funny how they want a cashless society here taking away all humanour rights of privacy as well..

Now you can go to a bar b que if you take your own utensils chair etc but not to use theirs who are doing the bar b que but you can order a take away cooked and made with their utensils and you can sit on a bus or taxi .

I wonder how these policemen were caught by tracking their phones and any ones phones close to them hence 6 feet apart to get get a clear signal like they do with soilders to find where they are theirs is 15ft apart. .
Were they wearing a mask as masks makes you more susceptible to catching the so called flu ups sorry the Covid 19 it also sends your body into stress to weaken your immune system through lack of oxygen .

Then you have the vunerable being kept isolated every prior normal day every day to this so called Covid 19 you were attacked by thousands of germs and virus's which attacked your immune system which strengthens it but isolating for weeks on end weakens their immune system even more which they had left so when the vunerable do go out they wont be able to fight off any virus nor germs. Yesterdays new vunerable and elderly people found dead in their homes frightened to go out ir to hospital some alerted by neighbours by the smell of decomposed bodies doctors reveal. Then councils wait for 8 weeks after to ask if these kind need help or are they checking you ve kicked the bucket as planned.
