I was rooting for The Netherlands, but it wasn't their night.

Pleased it never went to penalties.

Thank Heavens it's all over - seems like it's been on for months

I wanted Holland to win as well but the better team won. Very difficult match for Howard Webb to referee - he got a few things wrong just before Spain scored but let's face it the Dutch could have been down to 8 or 9 men by that stage if he had sent players off like he probably should have done.

Overall South Africa did a good job hosting the tournament, shame about those :censored: vuvuzela's though :!: :quiet: (hope they don't take off in England this coming season ... )
The Coventry Telegraph is the best Newspaper in the world. Honest.

Peter, it was obvious that the Dutch set out in the first half to disrupt the Spaniards one way or the other and the blatant foot high on Alonso deserved a red card but H/ Webb had a hell of a match to get a grip on and we were taking bets on the number of yellow/red cards at the end of the match but it would have been a good match if the Dutch had played football but the Spaniards deserved the win
One of the lads bought 30 vuvuzelas in South Africa so that should liven the Kop up at Anfield next season :rolling:

You'd think at least one TV channel could have shown the closing ceremony? Not everyone has the internet and there must be millions of people in this country who were looking forward to it.

Losing to Germany in the early rounds wasn't really a "national" disgrace. Refusing to show the closing ceremony certainly was.

Dutchy, agree 100% with you and there must have been a lot of disappointed people out there but you could not expect BBC to
show it as the money lashed out on the freeloaders ie Lineker, Hansen and the rest of the team would not allow it plus the VIPs that were in
on the act as well but it is a kitty that, unfortunately, the funders ie licence payers have no control of :fuming:
