Police are in attendance in Station Street West this afternoon amid reports that residents have been evacuated from their homes
The road, in Foleshill , has been taped off by officers. It is not yet clear what has happened.
The Telegraph understands that three police cars, a handful of officers and PCSOs are at the scene.
The road is currently closed off from the doctors' surgery to the Premier private members' club.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police confirms they are dealing with reports of a suspicious package in the area.
The road has been cordoned off, but no homes have been evacuated.
Our reporter at the scene, Antonia Bannister, tells us that “lots of children are coming home from school” along the street, while others are waiting outside the doctors’ surgery.
She adds: “They seem frustrated about not being able to get down the road, but are otherwise calm.”
Antonia says that not even the people in the houses near to the cordon know what’s going on.
She also says that traffic is building as people are trying to turn their cars around in the narrow street.
