OneRepublic earn first UK No.1 single

OneRepublic have earned their very first UK number one single with 'Counting Stars'.



After seven weeks inside the Top 40, the US band rose two spots to top this week's chart.

The Vamps - who were leading the pack in the midweek chart - narrowly missed out on the top spot by just 1,150 copies with 'Can We Dance', making it the closest number one race this year.

Jason Derulo slips two to three after two weeks at the top with 'Talk Dirty', followed by Katy Perry's 'Roar' at four.

Chase & Status land at five with their new track 'Count on Me'. Avicii drops one place to six with 'You Make Me'.

Demi Lovato climbs a further six spots to seven with 'Skyscraper', while Drake slips four to eight with 'Hold On We're Going Home'. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis drop three to nine with 'Same Love'.

Dizzee Rascal's collaboration with will.i.am 'Something Really Bad' enters at 10. Jason Mraz re-enters the Top 40 once again with 'I Won't Give Up' at 14.

X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan's new version of 'Last Night (Beer Fear)' is new at 18.

Nelly's team-up with Nicki Minaj and Pharrell Williams 'Get Like Me' earns him his 24th Top 40 entry at 19. Fuse ODG lands at 30 with 'Azonto'.

Two Door Cinema Club enter at 33 with their Top 40 debut 'Changing of the Seasons'.

Jasmine Thompson leaps 40 places to 32 with her version of Chaka Khan's 'Ain't Nobody', after it was used in a Sainsbury's advert.
