The Angry Birds Movie has soared to the top of the US box office with $39m in its opening weekend.
The movie, based on the phenomenally successful games franchise, knocks Captain America: Civil War down to 2 with $33m.
Meanwhile, comedy sequel Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising is new at 3 with $21m and Ryan Gosling’s The Nice Guys makes a slightly disappointing debut at 4 with $11m.
The Jungle Book is at 5 with $11m, Money Monster is at 6 with $7m and The Darkness is at 7 with $2m.
Elsewhere, Zootopia is at 8 with $1.7m and The Huntsman: Winter’s War is at 9 with $1.19m.
Finally, Mother’s Day rounds out the top ten with $1.11m.
