Deadpool tops US box office with huge opening weekend

Deadpool has become the biggest R-rated opening ever at the US box office with an enormous $135m.

Ryan Reynold’s Marvel blockbuster is also the largest four-day President’s Day weekend debut for a movie ever after surpassing Fox’s estimation of $60-$65 million.

Meanwhile, Kung Fu Panda 3 is down to two with £19.6m and Rebel Wilson’s comedy How to be Single is new at three with $18.7m.

The Revenant is at five with $6.9m, the Coen brothers’ Hail, Caesar! is at six with $6.9m and Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes its total earnings to $914m with a $6m weekend.

Elsewhere, The Choice is at eight with $5.2m and Ride Along 2 is at nine with $4m.

Finally, The Boy rounds out the top ten with $2.9m.​
