The Martian knocks Goosebumps off top of US box office

The Martian has narrowly beaten last week’s number one Goosebumps to top the US box office.

Matt Damon’s sci-fi film took $15.9m – just $400,000 more than the Jack Black offering – to claim the top spot.

Tom Hanks’s Bridge of Spies remains at three with $11.3m, while new entry The Last Witch Hunter could only make fourth with $10.8m.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is new at six with $8.2m, and Michael Fassbender’s Steve Jobs jumps into the top 10 at seven with $7.2m.

Finally, The Intern and Sicario round out the bottom with $3.8m and $2.9m respectively.

The US weekend box office top 10 for October 23-25 is as follows:
