Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation easily took down the competition at the US box office on its debut weekend.
Rogue Nation crushed fellow new release Vacation, taking $56m and replacing Paul Rudd’s superhero movie Ant-Man at the top.
Ant-Man slid to third after two weekends at number one, earning $12.6m and bringing its total box office earnings to $132.1m.
Minions and Adam Sandler’s Pixels dropped to fourth and fifth place respectively.
The US weekend box office top 10 for July 31-August 2 is as follows:
