‘Spy’ knocks ‘San Andreas’ off top of US box office

Spy has knocked San Andreas off the top of the US box office, taking $30m in its opening weekend.

The Melissa McCarthy comedy narrowly beat the Dwayne Johnson action thriller, which took $26.4m.

Elsewhere, horror sequel Insidious: Chapter Three is new at three with $23m and Entourage arrives at four with $10.4m.

Tom Hardy’s Mad Max: Fury Road is at five with $7.9m, while Rebel Wilson’s Pitch Perfect 2 is at six with $7.7m.

Meanwhile, Tomorrowland is at seven with $7m and Avengers: Age of Ultron is at eight with $6.2m.

Aloha and horror remake Poltergeist are at nine and ten with $3.3m and $2.8m respectively.
