Pitch Perfect 2 beats Mad Max at US Box Office

Pitch Perfect 2 has fended off competition from Mad Max: Fury Road to claim the US Box Office.

The Rebel Wilson musical comedy took over $70.3m in its opening weekend, while Tom Hardy’s action sequel entered at number two with $44.4m.

Elsewhere, last week’s number one Avengers: Age of Ultron is down to three with $38.8 and Hot Pursuit is at four with $5.7m.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 stays at five, while Furious 7 is at six with $3.6m.

The Age of Adaline is at seven with $3.2m and Disney’s Home is at eight with $2.7m.

Ex Machina is at nine, while Thomas Hardy adaptation Far From the Madding Crowd rounds out the top ten with $1.3m.
