Transformers stays on top at US box office

Transformers: Age of Extinction has taken the number one spot in the US box office for the second week with $36.4m.

Last weekend, Transformers scored the biggest box office opening of 2014 when it debuted with $100m, knocking off Think Like a Man Too in first place.

This weekend, the Michael Bay movie beat three new releases – Tammy, Deliver Us From Evil and Earth to Echo.

Melissa McCarthy’s comedy Tammy landed in second place with $21.1m, followed by Deliver Us From Evil in third place with $9.5m.

Family movie Earth to Echo came in sixth place with $8.2m.

Think Like a Man too, which debuted at number one, slipped from fourth place to ninth place with $4.9m.

Its number four spot was taken by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s comedic sequel 22 Jump Street with $9.4m. The movie’s total earning is $158.8m.

How to Train Your Dragon 2, Maleficent, Jersey Boys and Edge of Tomorrow complete the US box office top ten list at number five, number seven, number eight and number ten consecutively.
