Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel has stormed the US weekend box office charts.
The Warner Bros. movie, starring Henry Cavill and Amy Adams, is a new interpretation of the Superman legend, written by Dark Knight scribe David S Goyer.

The Hollywood Reporter, the film has nabbed the number one June movie opening of all time with $113m on its weekend debut.
Seth Rogen and James Franco’s This is the End debuted at second place with a respectable $20.5m, ensuring that last weekend’s number one film The Purge was pushed to fifth place.
Meanwhile, Now You See Me kept its spot at number three with $10.32m, while Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan’s The Internship continues to underperform, slipping two spots to number six with $7m.
The top ten is rounded out by Star Trek Into Darkness, After Earth, and Iron Man 3.
