Jim Carrey wants ‘Almighty’, ‘Dumber’ sequels

Actor Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey has said that he is considering returning to some of his most popular roles in a number of new projects.

While promoting his new film Mr Popper’s Penguins, Carrey confirmed that he would definitely be interested in starring in sequels to his 1994 breakout comedy Dumb and Dumber, as well as the 2003 hit Bruce Almighty.

“We’re talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about,” Carey revealed to Coming Soon. “There’s Bruce Almighty and we’re talking about maybe another Dumb and Dumber.”

Both films spawned significantly less successful sequels which Carrey himself was not involved with.

Bruce Almighty was followed by the 2007 sequel Evan Almighty, which saw Steve Carrell take over as the lead character, while Dumb and Dumber was followed up with a 2003 prequel called Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd starring Eric Christian Olsen and Derek Richardson.

After starring almost exclusively in comedies, including the likes of Ace Ventura, The Mask, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Carrey branched out to more serious projects, such as the Michel Gondry-directed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and psychological thriller The Number 23.
