A new legal drama, Delilah, has been given a straight to season order for America's Oprah Winfrey Network.

The series comes from Craig Wright, the creator of church-based family drama Greenleaf, which wrapped up its fifth and final season earlier this month.

Maahra Hill (How to Get Away with Murder) leads the cast as the title character, Delilah Connolly, a headstrong, highly principled lawyer living in North Carolina.

The series synopsis reads (via TVLine): "Delilah is doing her best to raise two kids alone and keep her ties to family, friends and faith strong, all the while ceaselessly seeking justice for those who need it most, in a time when the rich and powerful of Charlotte and beyond will do anything to stop her."

The cast also includes Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends) as Tamara Grayson, Delilah's best friend; Susan Heyward (Orange Is the New Black) as Demetria Barnes, Delilah's fearless associate; and Ozioma Akagha (Marvel's Runaways) as Delilah's secretary, Harper Conant.

Directing will be Randolph-Wright (Greenleaf) and Cheryl Dunye (Queen Sugar) and they're hoping for a 2021 premiere – assuming there are no more pandemic-related setbacks.

OWN president Tina Perry said in a statement: "On the heels of the incredible success story of Greenleaf, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with Craig on this compelling new drama.

"Our viewers are going to deeply relate to this story that focuses on a powerful woman committed to her family and her community."

Greenleaf aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network in the US, and is streamable on Netflix elsewhere.
