CBS has confirmed that the freshman drama is done after airing just one season this year. The news comes several weeks after “The Red Line” wrapped up its first season last month.

Created by Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss, “The Red Line” followed the lives of three different Chicago families as they journey toward hope and healing, after an unarmed African American doctor is shot by a white cop. The show’s cast included Noah Wyle, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Noel Fisher, Howard Charles, Aliyah Royale, Michael Patrick Thornton, Vinny Chhibber, Elizabeth Laidlaw, and more.

The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise as “The Red Line” scored consistently low ratings throughout its first season. Averaging just a 0.4 live + same day among adults 18-49, it ranked as CBS’ second-lowest-rated scripted title of the season.

“The Red Line” is now the fifth scripted CBS show confirmed not to be coming back for the 2019-20 season, joining the previously canceled “Fam,” “Happy Together,” “Murphy Brown,” and “Life in Pieces.” As of now, only 2 CBS shows are still hanging in limbo, as the fates of “The Code” and “Ransom” have yet to be officially announced.
