Guardians of the Galaxy tops US box office for third week

Guardians of the Galaxy has retained the number one position at the US box office for the second week in a row.



With weekend earnings of $16,313,000, the Marvel film's total gross now stands at just over $274m, while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at second place earned $11,750,000, bringing its total to $162m.

Chloë Grace Moretz's If I Stay remains at number three in its second week, taking more than $9m, while John Erick Dowdle's Parisian horror As Above, So Below is new at number four with $8m.

Comedy Let's Be Cops is down one place to five, while Pierce Brosnan spy thriller The November Man is new in sixth place.

When the Game Stands Tall is down two places to seven, while The Giver has dropped one spot to eight.

The Hundred-Foot Journey and The Expendables 3 round out the top ten, at nine and ten respectfully.

Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For continues its dismal run, dropping out of the top 10 into 14th place in its second week, with a total gross of $10,766,000.
