The ABC musical drama has been ordered for an additional nine hours, it was announced on Monday (November 12).

Nashville focuses on the rivalry between Connie Britton, who plays country music singer Rayna James, and Hayden Panettiere, who portrays rising star Juliette Barnes.

The show also stars Eric Close, Robert Ray Wisdom and Powers Boothe (Deadwood). Devised by Oscar-winning Thelma & Louise writer Callie Khouri, it is co-produced by Britton.

Nashville is currently averaging a ratings score of 3.2/9 in the 18-49 demographic during its Wednesday evening timeslot.

Panettiere recently denied that Juliette is based on Taylor Swift, saying that she thinks the multi-award winner "is much nicer" than her character.

Nashville airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on ABC. More4 has bought the rights to air the show in the UK.
