The sophomore drama - which stars Kerry Washington - has received a 'back-nine' pick-up from ABC, according to Deadline.

New comedy The Neighbours has received a similar order and will also air 22 episodes as part of its first season.

The sci-fi sitcom - which follows an alien family living in New Jersey - debuted with 9.22m viewers in late September. Though the second episode fell to 6.3m, the show's ratings rose to 7m in its fifth week.

ABC has yet to make a decision on the future of new dramas Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue - both shows have received orders for more scripts, but the network is yet to commission additional filmed episodes.

Nashville - which stars Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton as competing country singers - is similarly in limbo, with no final decision made on its future.
