AMC is currently developing six new drama pilots.

The cable network will only pick up two of the projects to series at most, reports Deadline.

Low Winter Sun - based on the New Zealand crime drama - has been adapted by Criminal Minds writer / producer Chris Mundy.

Turn will tell the story of George Washington's spy ring and has been written by Craig Silverstein, whose past credits include Nikita, Terra Nova and Bones.

Legal drama Philly Lawyer from Richard LaGravenese (P.S. I Love You) will follow a law student, while F/V Mean Time - about a Maine lobster fishing family - has been scripted by Fringe's Jason Cahill.

A journalist is cloned in Jake Paltrow & Robbie Kinberg's Crystal Pines, while Vikram Chandra's Mumbai-set novel Secret Games has been adapted by Kerry Williamson (Alex Cross).

A final decision on which pilots, if any, will be picked up will be made in the coming weeks. Last year, none of the six pilot scripts on offer continued to series.

In 2010, Western drama Hell on Wheels advanced from the pilot stage. The show has since been picked up for a second season.
