'Californication' renewed for fifth season

Showtime entertainment president David Nevins has announced that Californication has been renewed for a fifth season.



A press release from the network revealed that the series was immediately signed for an additional 12 episodes following a successful premiere of its fourth season last week which brought in over 1m viewers.

The show stars David Duchovny as writer Hank Moody and follows the character's interactions with his ex-wife and daughter as well as his "hedonistic vices".

Production on the fifth season is expected to begin this spring.

Californication airs Sundays at 9pm.
