USA has officially renewed the crime drama for a fourth season, the network announced this morning, the news of which comes just several weeks after the show aired the finale episode of its third season. In addition to the renewal, USA also announced that showrunner Natalie Chaidez is exiting the series, with Dailyn Rodriguez and Ben Lobato stepping in as the new co-showrunners.

“After two incredible years working with USA Network at the helm of Queen of the South, I’m moving on to develop my own projects full-time with my friends at Fox and Fox 21 Television Studios,” commented Chaidez. “I will miss the QOTS familia and fans, but I am proud to pass along the baton and champion the growth of co-showrunners Dailyn Rodriguez and Ben Lobato.”

Based on the best-seller, “La Reina del Sur,” the series was created by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller. It stars Alice Braga, Veronica Falcón, Peter Gadiot, Hemky Madera, and more.

“Queen of the South” has been a consistent ratings performer for the network, averaging a 0.4 live + same day rating in the adults 18-49 demo with 1.13 million viewers throughout its third season this year, on par with the 0.4 and 1.16 million averages of its second season.
