Announced this afternoon by FX, the stylish period drama, “Pose,” has been renewed for a second season. Co-created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals, the 1980s-set series has looked to juxtapose looks at the several segments of life and society in New York at the time: the rise of the Trump-era luxury universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.

The series also features the largest cast of LGBTQ actors ever, which includes Mj Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson,Evan Peters, Kate Mara, James Van Der Beek, and more.

Like most of the Murphy-created dramas too, “Pose” has been met with universally positive praise from both critics and general TV viewers alike up until this point. The series’ renewal, then, only fits in line with FX’s continued commitment to their prestige TV dramas. The series has been performing fairly consistently in the ratings throughout its first season, with a 0.2 live + same day average. It’s most recent episode hit a 0.3 with 594,000 viewers this past Sunday.

FX CEO, John Landgraf, commented on the season 2 renewal with the following:

“Ryan Murphy has once again revolutionized television with Pose, an incredibly engaging story of creativity, courage, compassion, love and family at a pivotal time in our culture. As television critics have universally acknowledged, there is simply nothing like Pose on TV, so effortlessly excelling on every creative level and earning a place in television history for its infectiously inclusive spirit. We are honored to partner with our producers Ryan, Brad Falchuk, Steven Canals, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh, and the incredible cast and crew to continue this groundbreaking journey that is Pose.”

New episodes of “Pose” air every Sunday night on FX.
