The network on Monday officially gave out series orders to both “The Village” and “The Enemy Within.” This comes just a few days after NBC also put in a series order for its new medical drama, “New Amsterdam,” with the three titles now joining the previously announced Julian Fellowes drama, “The Gilded Age,” as the known freshman shows set to be premiering on NBC next season.

Coming from creator Mike Daniels, “The Village” takes place in a Brooklyn apartment building that, on the surface, doesn’t look at all out-of-the-ordinary. But as the series will reveal, inside the building, its residents have become a bonded community of family and friends. Warren Christie, Moran Atias, Lorraine Toussaint, Dominic Chianese, Grace Van Dien, Frankie Faison, Jerod Haynes, Daren Kagasoff, and Michaela McManus all star in the drama. It was originally given a pilot order by the network earlier this year.

Meanwhile, “The Enemy Within” is described as a fast-paced, spy-hunting thriller that follows “Dexter” star Jennifer Carpenter as Erica Shepherd, a former CIA operative who is now known as the most notorious traitor in American history. While serving time in prison, she is recruited by FBI agent Will Keaton (Morris Chestnut) to help him track down and capture an elusive criminal.

The pilot script for “Enemy Within” was penned by Ken Woodruff, and in addition to Chestnut and Carpenter, the series will also star Raza Jaffrey and Kelli Garner. It will be produced by Universal Television.
