The CW is doing a slight schedule shuffle, moving the premiere for the final season of “The Originals” up two days and shunting “Life Sentence” to Friday nights

“The Originals” will debut at 9 p.m. ET/PT Wednesday, April 18, two days before its previously scheduled premiere. It will follow a musical episode of “Riverdale” set for that night.

“Life Sentence,” meanwhile, gets one more Wednesday airing on April 4. It will then take a couple weeks off before moving to Fridays starting April 27. The brief hiatus will allow The CW to finish out “Jane the Virgin’s” season before “Life Sentence” moves. “Jane” has its season finale on April 20.

“Life Sentence,” which stars Lucy Hale, has struggled in the ratings thus far. It’s averaging a 0.2 rating among adults 18-49 and just 532,000 viewers for initial airings; Wednesday’s episode managed only a 0.1 in the 18-49 demographic.

The show will join “Dynasty” — also the recipient of a couple of 0.1s in recent weeks — on The CW’s Friday schedule. The schedule change also moves “Dynasty’s” season finale up a week to May 11; it had been scheduled to be off the air on April 20 to accommodate “The Originals” premiere.
