NBC has set early 2018 premiere dates for two new dramas, both of which will get prime spots for their debuts

“Good Girls,” a drama about three suburban women (Christina Hendricks, Retta and Mae Whitman) who wind up on the wrong side of the law, will premiere at 10 p.m. ET/PT Monday, Feb. 26. It will debut behind the premiere of “The Voice’s” spring cycle.

“Rise,” a show about a high school teacher (Josh Radnor) who takes over his school’s drama department, will make its debut at 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, right after the season finale of “This Is Us.” The new series will then take over “TIU’s” 9 o’clock timeslot the following week.

“Rise,” which is based on a true story, comes from “Friday Night Lights” and “Parenthood” showrunner Jason Katims and is aiming for the same heartstrings as those shows and “This Is Us.” Its placement there, as well as a “Voice” lead-in once it moves to its regular home, makes a lot of sense.

The cast for “Rise” also includes Rosie Perez, Marley Shelton, Auli’i Cravalho (“Moana”), Rarmian Newton, Damon J. Gillespie, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joseph Tippett and Shirley Rumierk.

“Good Girls” comes from “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” veteran Jenna Bans. Its cast also includes Reno Wilson, Manny Montana, Lidya Jewett, Izzy Stannard and Matthew Lillard.

In announcing the premiere dates, NBC also notes that “Brave,” the current occupant of the 10 p.m. Monday slot, won’t go past 13 episodes this season and that a decision on a second season “will be made at a later date.”

The network also hasn’t said yet what will plug the gap between the end of “Brave’s” run and “Good Girls” debut. “Brave” will likely end on Jan. 22, and while NBC has two Mondays of Winter Olympics coverage in Feburary, it will still have a couple of weeks to fill.
