CBS has given the order to increase the number of “SEAL Team” missions this season

The network on Thursday picked up the freshman drama for a full season of 22 episodes. The extension is for nine more episodes from its initial order of 13.

The drama starring David Boreanaz as the leader of, you guessed it, a Navy SEAL team, has performed respectably, if not spectacularly, over its first three weeks. It’s averaging a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49, making it CBS’ second highest-rated drama so far this season, and 8.72 million viewers on the night it airs.

Three days of delayed viewing brought the first two episodes up to 2.0 in the 18-49 demographic and a little more than 12 million viewers, along with a 2.9 rating in CBS’ core demo of adults 25-54.

“SEAL Team” is the second new CBS series to earn a full-season order, following that of “Young Sheldon,” and the third rookie overall to have its run extended. ABC’s “The Good Doctor,” the top-rated new drama so far, also earned a pickup. (FOX also extended Season 2 of “Star.”)
