The actor will also recur as his availability allows, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler announced at the network's upfronts.

The drama, ordered to series by CBS, is based on the 2011 movie of the same name and stars Jake McDorman as protagonist Brian Finch.

Finch is forced into solving cases for the FBI using enhanced abilities acquired from taking the mysterious drug NZT, and works closely with Special Agents Harris (Jennifer Carpenter) and Boyle (Hill Harper).

Cooper is executive producing on the project alongside writer Craig Sweeny, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Todd Phillips.

Heather Kadin, Ryan Kavanaugh, Tucker Tooley and Tom Forman are also executive producers, while Marc Webb directs the pilot.

The big-screen feature topped box office charts when it debuted four years ago, and has since made more than $160 million worldwide.
