The network has announced today that the period drama has been renewed for a third season. The series, which takes a look at the early days of the 1980s crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles, will air its season 2 finale on the network tomorrow night.

Created by Eric Amadio, John Singleton, and Dave Andron, the series stars Damson Idris, Carter Hudson, Emily Rios, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Isaiah John, and more.

“It has been great to see ‘Snowfall’s’ audience and critical acclaim grow in its second season,” said FX’s Head of Originals, Eric Schrier. “The creative team has done a fantastic job and we have high hopes for season three.”

Throughout its second season, “Snowfall” has been averaging a 0.4 live + same day rating in the adults 18-49 demographic with 903,000 viewers. This is on par with the 0.4 average of its first season last year, and only down around 63,000 viewers year-to-year.

So while it hasn’t been the same kind of ratings titan as other FX series like “American Horror Story” or this year’s freshman “Sons of Anarchy” spin-off, “Mayans M.C.,” it has proven itself to be a solid draw on the network. With very little of a ratings drop between its first two seasons as well, it’s no surprise that FX has decided to stick with “Snowfall” for another year.

The season 2 finale of “Snowfall” will air this coming Thursday night on FX.
