The series scored a second-season renewal Wednesday at the top of FX’s summer TV press tour session. The pickup comes five episodes into the first season, which has scored decent ratings for the channel.

“Snowfall” averages a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and 1.08 million viewers the night it airs and typically doubles those numbers with a week of delayed viewing. FX says 5 million people watch each episode across all platforms.

In Live +7, it currently ranks 10th in adults 18-49 among 98 cable drama series that have aired in 2017.

“Snowfall” is set in Los Angeles in 1983 and stars Damson Idris as Franklin Saint, a young hustler who will find himself at ground zero of the crack cocaine wave. The series also stars Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Carter Hudson and Emily Rios.

John Singleton (“Boyz n the Hood,” “American Crime Story”) created “Snowfall” along with Eric Amadio and “Justified” veteran Dave Andron, who is the showrunner.

Season 2 of “Snowfall” will air in 2018; there’s no word yet on a specific premiere date.
