The first full season pickup of the 2019-20 season has officially arrivedFOX has picked up freshman drama, “Prodigal Son,” for a full season today, extending its first season’s episode count from its original 13 episodes to a total of 22. It is the first of any of the rookie broadcast shows this fall to receive a full season commitment from its network.

Created by Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver, “Prodigal Son” focuses on the relationship between a talented criminal psychologist and his serial killer father. Its cast includes Tom Payne and Michael Sheen in the lead roles, along with Lou Diamond Phillips, Halston Sage, Aurora Perrineau, Frank Harts, Keiko Agena, Bellamy Young, and more.
The show’s full season order today comes as welcome news for “Prodigal Son,” which has been one of the season’s more notable freshman performers up to this point. Two episodes into its run, the series has averaged a 1.0 L+SD rating among adults 18-49 and 3.97 million viewers, making it the highest-rated freshman show of the season so far.
