John Barrowman has joined the cast of new superhero drama Arrow.
The Doctor Who and Torchwood star has signed up for a recurring role in the CW show's debut season,
Entertainment Weekly reports.
Barrowman will play a "well-dressed man" who is "as mysterious as he is wealthy", producers said, adding that "he is an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City".
Stephen Amell plays DC superhero The Green Arrow in the show, which is written and executive produced by Green Lantern's Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, alongside Vampire Diaries producer Andrew Kreisberg.
Katie Cassidy (Gossip Girl), Willa Holland (The OC), Paul Blackthorne (The River) and Annie Ilonzeh (Charlie's Angels) will also star in Arrow.
Arrow, which attracted rave reviews at Comic-Con, premieres on October 10 on The CW in the US. Sky1 will air the series in the UK.
