Announced this afternoon by the network, NBC has officially canceled the freshman drama after just one season. The news of which comes almost three months after the series wrapped up its first season back in August.

Created by Mickey Fisher, “Reverie” followed a former hostage negotiator, who takes on a job retrieving people that get lost in a virtual reality program. It starred Sarah Shahi, Dennis Haysbert, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jessica Lu, Kathryn Morris, Kai Scott, and more.

It was a Universal Television and Amblin Television co-production, with Tom Szentgyorgyi, Brooklyn Weaver, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey also serving as executive producers alongside Fisher.

The cancellation of “Reverie” comes as little surprise since, despite the show’s high-concept premise and promising ensemble, its ratings failed to impress. The show averaged a 0.4 live + same day rating with 2.10 million viewers, making it NBC’s second lowest-rated summer title, barely placing ahead of “Trial & Error” in its sophomore run.
