The beloved Syfy series was originally canceled by the network earlier this month, much to the disappointment of its fans. However, rumors quickly began circling this week that Amazon was in talks with SyFy to possibly pick up “The Expanse” for an additional fourth season, which would air on the streaming service. Now, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has confirmed the renewal of “The Expanse” at the National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference in Los Angeles Friday night.

Based on James S. A. Corey’s best-selling book series of the same name, “The Expanse” is set in the distant future and stars Steven Strait, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and more.

“We couldn’t be more excited that ‘The Expanse’ is going to continue on Amazon Prime,” said Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. “We are deeply grateful that Jeff Bezos, Jen Salke, and their team at Amazon have shown such faith in our show. We also want to thank Laura Lancaster, head of Alcon Television for her tireless efforts. We are fully aware that this wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the staggering outpouring of support from the most creative, hardest working sci-fi fans around the world. From reddit campaigns to airplanes, we say thank you. It worked!”

The show’s renewal comes just as its nears the conclusion of its current third season, which will air its season finale June 27. There’s no date set for Season 4 yet.
