The Walking Dead will debut with a double-length episode for its second season.
The 13-episode run will also be broken into two halves, with the first half premiering in October and the second in February, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The opening 90-minute episode will air on Sunday, October 16 at 9pm ET, kicking off the two-week-long 'Fearfest'.
The show will air internationally following the US premiere.
The first season's writer and director Frank Darabont left the show earlier in the year and was replaced by former deputy Glen Mazzara.
Based on the comic series by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead follows the adventures of a group of survivors of a zombie apocalypse and stars British actor Andrew Lincoln.
