Best known for playing fan-favorite ‘Tyreese’ in the Golden Globe-nominated AMC series “The Walking Dead,” “Dennis ‘Cutty’ Wise” in Emmy® award-nominated HBO drama series “The Wire,” and ‘Klyden’ in Seth MacFarlane’s “The Orville,” accomplished and critically-acclaimed television, film and stage actor Chad L. Coleman stars as the infamous villain ‘Bruno Manheim’ in The CW’s “Superman & Lois” with its third season premiering on Tuesday, March 14th. Coleman will also star in THE ANGRY BLACK GIRL AND HER MONSTER which will be debuting its world premiere at SXSW on Saturday, March 11th.

Mr. Coleman and I have an interesting discussion covering his role as the infamous DC baddie ‘Bruno Manheim,’ known to most of Metropolis as a local hero, a philanthropist who has revived the struggling neighborhoods of the city. For years, Lois Lane has worked to prove that behind the façade is a career criminal and the head of the notorious organization Intergang. Coleman playing Mannheim isn't exactly a huge surprise for fans of Superman & Lois. The season 2 finale set up for the series' next big bad with one of the final scenes of that episode seeing John Diggle (David Ramsey) suggesting to John Henry Irons (Wolé Parks) in the Smallville Diner that Bruno Maheim and the Intergang killed this Earth’s John Henry Irons.

We also discussed Coleman’s newest film THE ANGRY BLACK GIRL AND HER MONSTER which debuted at SXSW this past weekend. The horror-thriller debuted at SWSW’s “Visions” category, a special program that “champions audacious, risk-taking artists in the new cinema landscape.” Directed and penned by Bomani J. Story and produced by Crypt TV, the film follows Vicaria, brilliant teenager who believes death is a disease that can be cured. After the brutal and sudden murder of her brother, the teen embarks on a dangerous journrey to bring him back to life. It’s a journey inspired by Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein.” The film thematically challenges the idea of life and death. Bomani J. Story crafts a thrilling tale about a family that, despire the terrors of systempic pressure, will survive and be reborn again. RLJE will released the film in theaters summer 2023. Shudder and ALLBLK will follow with streaming debuts later in 2023.

Growing up in the foster care system, Coleman devotes time to working with children in similar circumstances and underprivileged communities and we discussed that aspect of his life as well as upcoming projects he is developing with a co-writer and working in comedy on Tina Fey’s series now streaming on Netflix. It is an engaging interview with a reserved, intelligent and compassionate person and I am blessed to share this with all of you.

Big thanks to Chad Coleman and Amanda at AGPR for granting me this wonderful experience. Click on the image below to watch and or listen to the entire interview. Thank you.
