Scientists plan to test Ozzy Osbourne to find out how he is still alive after years of abusing drugs and alcohol.

According to Sky News, the 61-year-old rocker will be one of few people in the world to have his full genome mapped.

US company Knome is conducting the analysis in an effort to learn why some people can live a long life of excess while others cannot.

"Sequencing and analysing individuals with extreme medical histories provides the greatest potential scientific value," Nathan Pearson, research director at Knome, said.

Osbourne has reportedly admitted to drinking four bottles of cognac a day at one point. He described himself as a "medical miracle" for being alive after a 40-year "bender".
