The show, based on French-Canadian series Le Monde De Charlotte, focuses on a middle-class family that includes a magically gifted daughter, Deadline reports.

Harden will play the mother of the family. Sophia Schloss was cast as the title character, with Abigail Mavity and Skyler Gisondo as her on-screen siblings.

The actress won an Oscar for her role in Pollock and a Tony Award for God of Carnage. She has also received nominations for two Emmy Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

This is the second consecutive season that Harden has appeared in a comedy pilot, having featured in ABC's half-hour Smothered in 2011.

Harden is also scheduled to make a guest appearance in NBC's comedy Bent.
