Men of a Certain Age could be axed after two seasons, a report has suggested.

With the TNT comedy-drama's recent episodes pulling in just 1.5m viewers, network executives are keen to cancel the show, according to Variety.

The cable network, which entirely funds the series at a cost of $2.5 million per episode, is said to be unhappy with the falling viewing figures.

A final decision on the show's future is expected to be made after this year's Emmy nominations on July 14.

The second season of Men of Certain Age concluded last night on TNT. The 12-episode run was split into two halves, with an initial six episodes airing in December and January and the latter half from June 1.

Series star Ray Romano (Joe Tranelli) previously admitted that he was unhappy with the show's five-month hiatus.

"It's not great," said the actor. "You feel like you get a little momentum going, and then [the show's] off again, and you don't know if those viewers are going to come back."
