Announced this morning, the network has officially renewed the Sutton Foster-led comedy for its seventh season. The news comes as the series continues making its way through its sixth season, with a new episode set to air later tonight (Wednesday).

Created by Darren Star, “Younger” follows a single mother who, after being mistaken for younger than she really is, decides to try rebooting her career and her love life as a 26-year old. In addition to Foster, its cast includes Hilary Duff, Miriam Shor, Debi Mazar, Nico Tortorella, Peter Hermann, Molly Bernard, and more.

“Season after season, ‘Younger’ has continued to reach new heights and build an incredibly loyal fan base,” said Paramount and TV Land President of Development and Production, Keith Cox. “We love this talented and amazing cast and can’t wait to see what Darren has in store for season seven.”

The show’s renewal doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as “Younger” has continued to be a strong performer over the years for TV Land, while steadily building up a dedicated and loyal fanbase for itself at the same time.

In its current season, the show is averaging a 0.1 live + same day rating among adults 18-49 with 606,000 viewers, down only slightly from its fifth season’s 0.2 and 670,000 viewer averages. It is also the highest-rated cable sitcom among women 25-54 and women 18-49.

With this renewal today, “Younger” is now set to become TV Land’s longest-running scripted series, beating “Hot in Cleveland,” which previously ran for six seasons.
