Announced this afternoon, NBC has officially renewed the long-running cop comedy for its seventh overall season (and second to air on NBC). The announcement comes less than a year after “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” was saved by NBC, following FOX’s decision to cancel the beloved series after sticking with it for five seasons.

“It’s been one of our great joys as a network to give ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ a second life,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming at NBC Entertainment. “Cheers to Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York’s finest into New York’s funniest.”

NBC’s decision to save “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” has paid off well for the network so far this season. The series ranks as the network’s highest-rated comedy, with its current season averaging a 0.9 live + same day rating in the adults 18-49 demo with 2.83 million viewers, up from its fifth season’s 0.7 and 1.76 million viewer averages on FOX.

With this announcement today, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” now joins a growing list of shows on NBC renewed for the 2019-20 season, including “Will & Grace,” “The Good Place,” “Chicago P.D.,” “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” and “New Amsterdam.”

New episodes of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” air Thursday nights on NBC.
