The comedy series received a renewal for seasons 7 and 8 on Tuesday, following recent deals the network signed with stars Anna Faris and Allison Janey. Considering that “Mom” episodes tend to score an average of about 1.24 in adults 18-49, the renewal is not very surprising.

The survival of the series comes as producer Chuck Lorre’s other signature series, “The Big Bang Theory,” proceeds towards its end. The comedy, which has been a staple of CBS programming since it premiered, has lasted 12 seasons on the air. Lorre’s impressive resume also includes “Young Sheldon,” a prequel to “The Big Bang Theory,” and Golden Globe-winning Netflix series “The Kominsky Method,” which stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin.

In a statement released on Tuesday, CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl spoke about the renewal. “We’re exceptionally proud to have ‘Mom’ on our air; a high-quality, signature comedy with characters viewers love, that also brings strength and stability to our lineup,” she said. “Under Chuck Lorre’s extraordinary leadership and with his outstanding writing and production team, we look forward to having ‘Mom’ on CBS for many years to come.”

Additional early renewals at CBS include “Magnum P.I.,” “God Friended Me,” “The Neighborhood,” “Criminal Minds,” and “FBI.”
