‘Murphy Brown’ and ‘Happy Together’ get no additional episode orders

Just one day after announcing its midseason unscripted schedule, CBS has unveiled the premiere dates for (most) of its midseason comedy series.

Notably the announcement comes as final confirmation of what many had already assumed, that the network’s “Murphy Brown” revival and “Happy Together” will both be ending their first season runs after their initial 13-episode orders. That was always the plan when it comes to “Murphy Brown,” while “Happy Together” is now CBS’ only rookie series not to receive an additional episode order. Whether or not either will be granted second seasons, remains to be seen.

“Murphy Brown” ending will make room for the Nina Dobrev-led freshman comedy, “Fam,” which is set to premiere Thursday, Jan. 10 at 9:30 p.m. following “Mom.” Meanwhile, Matt LeBlanc’s “Man With a Plan” will return for its third season Monday, Feb. 4 in “Happy Together’s” 8:30 p.m. Monday night time slot.

Additionally, we are still waiting on the premiere dates for several of the network’s veteran titles, including “Life in Pieces,” “Elementary,” and “Instinct,” along with the freshman series, “The Code” and “The Red Line.” Stay tuned for an official announcement regarding those shows sometime in the coming weeks.
