Announced today, the network has officially ordered additional episodes for both “The Kids Are Alright” and “Splitting Up Together.” The former (which is currently in its first season) will get nine more episodes – bringing its total to a traditional 22 episodes. Meanwhile, “Splitting Up Together’s” second season has been given an additional five episodes, bringing its total to 18 episodes.

The pair of comedies are just the latest ABC titles to receive extra episode orders this fall, joining “The Conners,” “A Million Little Things,” “The Rookie,” and “Single Parents.” With this announcement, ABC has now extended the season orders for all of its freshman titles this season.

“The Kids Are Alright” order comes as little surprise, as the show has performed well up to this point. Airing immediately after “The Conners” every Tuesday night, it has averaged a 1.3 live + same day rating in adults 18-49 with 5.66 million viewers, making it the network’s third highest-rated comedy, behind only “The Conners” and “Modern Family.”

“Splitting Up Together” hasn’t done quite as well as “Kids” so far, with an average 0.8 and 3.16 million viewers, down from its first season’s 1.2 average. Both shows took this week off, as ABC switched out its usual Tuesday night primetime lineup for special coverage of the midterm elections.
