Announced today by the network, Fox has officially picked up “The Cool Kids” for a full season, with the order of 9 additional episodes – bringing its season total to 22-episodes. It is one of several other freshman shows to have received full season orders so far this fall, including ABC’s “Single Parents,” CBS’ “FBI,” NBC’s “New Amsterdam” and the season’s breakout drama hit, “Manifest.”

“[Co-creator] Charlie Day has given us a show that delivers the goods — hilarious stories and impeccable timing and chemistry between its stars, David Alan Grier, Vicki Lawrence, Martin Mull and Leslie Jordan,” said Fox Entertainment President, Michael Thorn. “On top of that, it has the perfect lead-in with Tim Allen and ‘Last Man Standing.’ ‘The Cool Kids’ are just that, and we’re thrilled they’re going to be on Fox for a full season.”

Airing right after the revived “Last Man Standing” every Friday night, “The Cool Kids” has been performing well in the ratings up to this point, with an average 1.2 live + same day rating among adults 18-49 and 5.51 million viewers. Partnered with “Last Man Standing,” the two shows have delivered three straight Friday night wins for Fox. It comes as little surprise then, that the network would want to keep that combination going for, at least, one full season.

Co-created by Charlie Day and Paul Fruchbom, “The Cool Kids” follows three friends at a retirement center who have their comfortable existence rattled by a newcomer to the community. It stars David Alan Grier, Martin Mull, Leslie Jordan, and Vicki Lawrence.
