In an announcement made this morning, the network has officially renewed the Wyatt Russell-led dramedy for a 10-episode second season. The news of which comes a little less than a week before the freshman series will air its season one finale next Monday night.

Executive produced by Paul Giamatti, and created by Jim Gavin, the series follows an ex-surfer named Dud, who finds himself led by fate to the doorstep of Lodge 49, a dusty fraternal lodge that offers the promise of cheap beer and strange, alchemical philosophies. Along with Russell, the show’s ensemble includes Brent Jennings, Sonya Cassidy, Linda Emond, and more.

“‘Lodge 49’ tells a funny, wise and meaningful story that immediately and deeply resonated with critics and viewers alike,” said David Madden, President of Programming at AMC, SundanceTV, and AMC Studios. “With a talented cast including Wyatt Russell, Brent Jennings and Sonya Cassidy, along with our strong creative team led by Jim Gavin and Peter Ocko, we are particularly proud of this series from both an AMC network and AMC Studios perspective and are looking forward to a return trip to the Lodge.”

While “Lodge 49” has been on the receiving end of warm critical praise since its premiere in August, the series hasn’t been much of a ratings draw for the network up to this point. Throughout its first season, the freshman series has averaged only a 0.1 live + same day rating in the adults 18-49 demo and 425,000 viewers.

Despite that, though, it looks like the show’s fans can expect to see more of “Lodge 49” after all, when it returns with its second season next year.
