“Younger” has been picked up for a sixth season, the news of which comes just a day before the series is set to make its Season 5 premiere. Created by Darren Star, the series stars Sutton Foster (“Bunheads”) as a single-mother in her 40s, who decides to pretend to be in her mid-20s, in order to jump back into the romantic and work worlds that she had previously taken a break from.

Alongside Foster, the series’ ensemble includes Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, Charles Michael Davis, Miriam Shor, Peter Hermann, and Molly Bernard. Season 4 was “Younger’s” highest-rated and most-watched season to date, with a 0.2 average live + same day rating in adults 18-49 and 735,000 viewers. That was up noticeably from its third season’s 563,000 viewership average.

“‘Younger’ exemplifies romantic comedy at its best and each season the show hits new creative and ratings heights,” said Kevin Kay, president of TV Land, CMT and Paramount Network. “We are honored to continue to work with the brilliant Darren Star and this amazing cast, led by the multitalented Sutton Foster. The new season is outstanding and we are thrilled for what’s to come for these beloved characters.”

The Season 5 premiere of “Younger” will air on TV Land Tuesday night.
